Port Charlotte 2002 - Select by Ian Buxton - Single Cask Scotch whisky

Em 2002, Ian Buxton, escritor, grande conhecedor de whisky e fundador da World Whiskies Conference, comprou, à Bruichladdich o seu próprio casco (nº 299) de Port Charlotte.
Esse casco, gerou uma edição limitada de 439 garrafas, das quais foram agora lançadas no mercado 400.
Este Port Charlotte 2002, foi destilado a 12 de Junho de 2002, e ficou a amadurecer em cascos de ex-bourbon, até ser engarrafado a 5 de Novembro de 2007, sem qualquer tipo de coloração (natural colour).

Tasting notes by Ian Buxton

Colour: Pale straw. There's relatively little cask influence but a pronounced distillery/spirit character showing through.
Nose: Peat, of course, but not oppressive or overly dominant. Some vanilla hints but notes of smoke and spent fireworks-perhaps the bottling date was not totally coincidental!
Palate: Mouth filling. A very 'big' whisky with the smoke very prominent but an underlying sweetness is soon revealed. This is remarkably smooth for the age. Open delightfully with water. Finish: A long and salty finish that lingers. Spicy hints.
