Este Aberlour 15 Year Old - Cuvée Marie d'Ecosse, é vendido exclusivamente em França, sendo uma homenagem a Mary Stuart, Rainha da Escócia por nascimento e Rainha de França, por casamento em 1559.

Este single malt foi amadurecido durante 15 anos em cascos de carvalho de ex-bourbon e foi engarrafado com 43% ABV.

Notas de Prova:

Cor: Ambar, com um brilho claro.

Nariz: Extremamente elegante, com um forte dominio de notas doces. Caramelo. Bastante fresco e equilibrado.

Paladar: Bastante fácil de ser apreciado. De grande suavidade e envolvente na boca. Notas doces a caramelo e passas. Nota-se uma certa equivalência a licor. Por vezes parece um licor de citrino.

Final: Suave, fresco e doce. Bastante fácil e elegante.

Comentário: Um single malte que não se impõe. Fácil de beber.

A Destilaria de Arran, lança pela primeira vez, a sua expressão turfada.

Este Peated Arran, originário do casco nº 103, foi destilado a 1 de Novembro de 2004 e amadureceu durante 4 anos em cascos de ex-bourbon, sendo engarrafado a 12 de Novembro de 2008, com 59,8% ABV.

Notas Oficiais de Prova:

Colour: Straw
Aroma: Golden syrup on toast with humbugs thrown in for good measure
Palate: Vanilla-fudge to start then... whoosh the peat arrives in to whip up a storm
Finish: A wonderful balance of light & shade as the peat and the sweet linger on the senses. This is no peaty monster but rather a cracking dram full of character where the peat plays the starring role but doesn’t run away with the film

Highland Park - Ambassador's Cask 5 (OB - 41,5%). Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Já tinha referido a 2 de Junho deste ano, o início da comercialização em Portugal do mais procurado dos single malt da Highland Park, o Ambassador's Cask nº 4 (oriundo do casco 413) com 29 anos.

Desta vez é lançado o Ambassador's Cask nº5.

Aparentemente será o último Ambassador! (uma espécie de Moicano para esta Gama!).

Para esta última expressão, foi seleccionado o casco 8845, um dos mais emblemáticos cascos re-utilizados de Sherry existentes na destilaria.

Este Ambassador's Cask nº 5, foi amadurecido durante 34 anos (mais cinco que a anterior expressão) e engarrafado com 41,5% ABV.

Segundo Gerry Tosh, Global Brand Ambassador “I was really drawn to this particular cask and wanted to bottle it as the curtain call which would mark the incredible success of our Ambassador’s Cask series. The initial impact of this cask strength alcohol makes the lips and then the tongue tingle. The sides of the tongue start to dance and as the hidden citrus emerges, warmth permeates the whole of the mouth.”

Talisker 57º North (OB-57%). Single Malt Island Scotch Whisky

A destilaria da Ilha de Skye, na Escócia, lançou o seu Talisker 57º.

Para os apreciadores desta Casa, cujo característica dos seus single malt, é o facto de serem ligeiramente turfados, oleosos e bastante apimentados, este lançamento era muitissimo aguardado.

Amadurecido exclusivamente realizado em cascos reutilizados de carvalho americano, foi engarrafado em 2008, com 57% ABV.

Notas Prova (Destilaria)

Appearance: Deep Gold

Nose: Struck matches suggest a volcano’s imminent eruption with seaweed marking high water on the shore.

Palate: At full strength an intense, smoky hot attack explosively evokes the rugged, raw volcanic power that formed the Isle of Skye’s famous Black Cuillins.

Finish: The classic Talisker finish, intensified – oily, medicinal, tingling and peppery.

Glenglassaugh 21 Years Old (OB - 46%). Single Malt Highland Scotch Whisky

A destilaria de Glenglassaugh, situada entre Portsoy e Banff, foi fundada em 1875, produzindo whisky até ao ano de 1986, ano que marca a sua desactivação.

Os seus single malt, eram parte importante na constituição dos blends Cutty Sark, Famous Grouse e Laing's.

A Destilaria foi reaberta em 2008, após compra por parte do The Scaent Group, sendo esse facto assinalado com o lançando a sua primeira expressão após a data de encerramento.

As últimas expressões oficiais, eram o 12 Years old e o "Family Silver" 25 Years Old.

O novo Glenglassaugh - 21 Years Old, foi engarrafado, após o referido amadurecimento, com 46% ABV.

Notas de Prova (Destilaria)

Nose: Like its older brother (it’s definitely male)! Rich sherry aromas whose complexity gives only hints of creamy fudge toffees give way to Glenglassaugh’s boiled fruit sweet medley, too complex to break down. Hints of menthol and peppermint gradually creep in.

Palate: On the palate the rich sherry dominates but the boiled fruits flavours appear in the mid- palate.

Glenfarclas 105 Cask Strength- 40 Years Old (OB-60%). Single Malt Highland Scotch whisky

A Destilaria de Glenfarclas acaba de lançar, como forma de comemorar os 40 anos, da primeira garrafa comercializada de Glenfarclas 105 Cask Strength, a sua edição limitada com 40 anos de amadurecimento.

Esta edição limitada a 893 garrafas do Glenfarclas 105 Cask Strength - 40 Years Old, foi engarrafada com 60% ABV (oriundo de dois cascos que mantiveram as mesmas características e força pretendida).

Se a Glenfarclas 105, era já uma verdadeira bomba, e um dos meus eleitos entre os single malt da região escocesa de Highland, imagino o que um amadurecimento de 40 anos consegue conferir a este whisky.

Tenho ideia, pelas quantidades editadas e pelo preço, que nunca o saberei!!!!!.

Como curiosidade o Jim Murray, na Whisky Bible 2009, deu-lhe 96 ptos (em 100 possíveis).

Kilchoman - New Spirit 2 Years Old (OB-62,2%). Ainda não é whisky, falta-lhe 1 ano, mas quem é que está preocupado com isso!!!

Deve-se pronunciar "kilhoman"!.

É a mais nova Destilaria existente de Islay (estou entre os meus!!!).

Fundada em 2005, é uma "farm-distillery", tendo o reconhecimento e o mérito de ser a primeira a ser autorizada e construida em Islay ao fim de mais de 124 anos.

Está previsto para 2009 o lançamento do seu primeiro Single Malt Scotch Whisky, coisa que ainda não é possível dado que para ser consideração "whisky" o "spirit" destilado tem que ter mais de 3 anos de amadurecimento.

Este Kilchoman New Spirit, agora provado, demonstra claramente a extrema qualidade deste "líquido". Acredito que em 2009, será um dos melhores Islay.

Destilado a 09.08.2006 e amadurecido durante dois anos em cascos de ex-Bourbon Buffalo Trace, foi engarrafado a 12.08.08 com 62,2% ABV (notável!) e 50ppm (nível de turfa), uma bomba!!!.

Notas de Prova:

Cor: Ouro claro, mas mesmo muito claro!.

Nariz: Intenso. Notas a banana caramelizada e turfa, muita turfa ...., cheio de turfa (Duich Moss Islay) ,

Paladar: Forte. Quente, muito quente. Envolvente em toda a boca, porém com notas secundárias a baunilha e frutos caramelizados. Lindo!.

Final: Brutal! e longo, muito longo....

Comentário: Vai valer a pena, colocar a mão no primeiro Single Malt Scotch Whisky desta destilaria. Se o amadurecimento correr bem, as expressões de 5, 10 e 12 anos previstas, farão as delícias dos meus serões de Inverno.

Balvenie Signature - 12 Years Old (OB-40%). Single Malt Speyside Scotch Whisky

Mais um da Região Escocesa de Speyside.

Deve ser já da minha boca, mas não consigo "entrar" nos single malt da Balvenie!.

Esta nova edição comemorativa dos 45 anos na industria de Whisky, do Master Distiller David Stewart.

Este Balvenie Signature, é uma edição limitada, com um "blend" de amadurecimento. Primeiro em cascos de "first fill bourbon", depois cascos de "refill bourbon" e por último cascos de "Sherry".

Foi amadurecido durante 12 anos e engarrafado com 40% de ABV.

Notas de Prova:

Cor: Ouro intenso.

Nariz: Bastante complexo. Redondo na boca, mas não muito intenso. Notas de baunilha e banana caramelizada. Não é muito perceptível a influência do Sherry.

Paladar: Muito suave e doce no inicio. Notas de caramelo, baunilha e alguma compota.

Final: Muito curto. Doce.

Comentário: Gostava de provar este single malt com uma maior graduação. Os 40% ABV, dotam este whisky de uma enorme suavidade, doçura e espirito redondo que não me enche as medidas. Claramante uma boa evolução das anteriores expressões da Balvenie, mas .... não me fica na memória ....

Macallan 10 Years Old - Sherry Oak (OB - 40%). Single Malt Speyside Scotch Whisky

Já estava com saudades de um Macallan.

Sendo um claro apreciador, quase incondicional da expressão; 10 Years Old - Cask Strength, estava curioso em provar este single malt, com baixa gradução 40% ABV.

Este Macallan 10 Years Old, foi amadurecido durante dez anos em cascos de carvalho, ex-Jerez, sendo engarrafado sem adição de cor.

Notas de Prova:

Cor: Ouro-âmbar. Lindo!!.

Nariz: É claramente um Macallan. Os aromas principais são inconfundíveis. Intenso a caramelo, com uma excelente influência de madeira e Jerez. Fantástico.

Paladar: Notas a madeira. Quente. Muito suave e envolvente. Frutos secos e caramelo. Sinto uma ligeira, falta de uma maior gradução!.

Final: Médio longo. Muito na linha das notas do paladar. Caramelo e madeira.

Comentário: Excelente whisky. Bom companheiro nocturno.

Ardbeg Blasda (OB - 40%). Single Malt Islay Scotch Whisky

A expectativa era grande, para não dizer enorme!. Mas finalmente coloquei as mãos, nariz e boca (por esta ordem), no novo single malt da destilaria de Ardbeg.

É diferente!.

A começar pelo facto da garrafa ser totalmente transparente, coisa invulgar na Ardbeg, passando pelo rótulo, que também foge a regra da imagem convencional da destilaria, da diminuição da concentração de turfa (8 ppm, face aos 23 ppm da versão de 10 anos) e terminando na baixa gradução do whisky - 40% ABV, e filtragem.

Posto isto, vamos ao que interessa!.

Notas de Prova:

Cor: Palha

Nariz: Clara ausência da turfa, que tão bem identifica os whiskies desta destilaria. Muito mais suave, doce e fresco que o nomal. O domínio no nariz é efectuado pelas notas de frutos secos e baunilha. Alguns aromas secundários a citrinos; limão. Não acrescentei água dada a baixa graduação.

Paladar: Bastante fresco e oleoso. Mais uma vez os frutos secos; amendoas. Alguma turfa, quase marginal. Boa influência da estrutura algo oleosa.

Final: Meio longo. Bastante suave. Com resíduos de limão e baunilha.

Comentário: Excelente single malt.

Foge bastante do carácter turfado da região e da Destilaria, que afasta alguns apreciadores, mas que aproxima muitos outros!!!.
